What Do You Blog About

Webmasters often struggle with the production of unique content when populating a blog, this is often because they operate in niche areas. One way to get around this is to open up your target area to the general market. For example if you own a website that produces legal documents, let’s say Wills, you would very quickly struggle to find subjects to write about. However if we open this up to the legal system as a whole, we should never struggle to find something meaningful to say.

Another problem is based around webmasters natural tendency to self promote their business, there’s a general feeling out there that each blog post will attract custom. What the authors do not realise is self promotional articles form poor reading material, to that end these posts can often be counterproductive. To work around this problem people consider ‘spinning’ articles, basically taking the words of others and modifying them slightly. The problem with this tactic is simple, if you want the major search engines to look favourably on your website then ‘spinning’ needs to be avoided like the preferable plague. One tip is to keep things simple, information we may view as too basic can often be useful or interesting to the general public. Last week I heard a sentence that was so simple it made me sit up and take notice. If you take out low cost insurance the service you receive will probably be unsatisfactory. Of course this makes perfect sense but actually it was not something I had thought about.

Consumers we are often pushed in the direction of saving money, the popularity of comparison websites highlights this perfectly. In conclusion, if you are struggling to find subjects to write about adopt a general approach, simplistic information can be beneficial, do not spin articles if you want search engines to view your site favourably and finally enjoy blogging, once you get into it, it can be fun.
