Website Copy
The production of top quality website copy is certainly more difficult than people imagine. The vast majority of small businesses do not have the necessary funds to hire a copywriter, so they are left to produce their own text. If we consider there are 3 areas that need to be addressed;
1. The content needs to please the site owner
2. Search engines need to find the text appealing
3. Site visitors need to view the text favourably
More often than not the production of website copy is rushed and therefore fails in many areas, the most common are;
1. Spelling mistakes
2. Grammatical errors
3. Keyword frequency is poor
4. Text is often hidden away in image files, this is poor for SEO purposes
5. Content is often crammed with keywords and anchor text this can make a body of text illogically
6. The body of text is either too long or too short
7. The text is not viewed favourably by site visitors, sites with poor conversion ratios take note
As you can see there are many considerations when producing website copy. My advice would be to take great care when you are doing this task, it can actually be the difference between success or failure for an online venture.
