Website Architecture
I read an interesting article today on the subject of website architecture and search engine optimisation (SEO). The problem lies in the production of a solid website, one that is visually pleasing, matches the business model, is easy to navigate and performs well within search engines. All too often we see well optimised sites that struggle with the visual aspect or visa verse.
To get the perfect balance requires the design team to work hand in hand with the optimisers, the result of this will be an attractive website that performs well within search engines. Obviously the costs involved in going down this road are higher than getting a designer team to knock up a basic website for £500. That said the percentage of cheap websites that perform well in the business sector is very small. I guess ultimately it depends on the business model and available funds. Architecture and SEO are both important, remember the value of design and optimisation teams are often viewed retrospectively.
There is no value in owning a website that you love all the visitors view in a negative light.
