Social Interaction

If you use Twitter as a marketing tool you need to be aware there are two sides of the coin. 1. Broadcasting 2. Interaction Personally I’m not a prolific user of Twitter, however I do see the mistakes made by its members, especially people in the SME sector. Most Twitter users are happy to broadcast away 24/7, there’s obvious reason, they feel by telling the world about their knowledge base or business, it will attract attention to their venture. Whilst this can be the case it’s a one dimensional approach. In regards to interaction, people wrongly think the only tool at their disposal is the ‘re-tweet’ facility, this is also incorrect.

#With all social tools it’s better to incorporate an all round solid system, one that distributes information, re-broadcasts other people’s interesting tweets and more importantly socially engaging with other members. The problem most people have is they search for the path of least resistance, how can I do well at something by offering minimal input. Unfortunately this kind of attitude often leads to failure. The same analogy can be attached to the ‘spinning’ of articles, it’s so much easier to take the words of others and modify them rather than coming up with bespoke inspirational ideas. In my own opinion interaction is the key to using social media as a powerful marketing tool. I’m aware this goes against popular belief as the vast majority of people using twitter are obsessed with sending and re-tweeting.
