Retail Outlets
Today was an unusual day for me, as a committed non-shopper I ventured inside Comet. The one thing that instantly struck me was the amount signs stating their store price matched that of their website. Surely there’s an anomaly playing out here. Stores burn cash, it’s unavoidable
- Staff Wages
- Real estate costs
- Utility Bills
- Maintenance
To name but a few.
For stores to compete with the online environment they need to attract customers, otherwise the main UK’s retail outlets will simply become warehousing units supplying online sales.
In my humble opinion online sales should attract a premium, if you don’t want to travel to our store, we will deliver your items but it will come at a price.
Just like websites retailers outfits need to connect with their customer base, they certainly need to operate fair system. Comet’s policy of matching their online price in store makes no sense at all but hey, as a committed shop avoider what the hell do I know.
