Is Pageranking Dead
In days gone by Google carried out mass pagerank amendments at least 3 times a year, however the last major amendment was 9 months ago. I’ve personally been expecting this move since Google started its purge on paid links. It would be fair to say the main hunters of pageranking are site owners that are looking to attract advertising revenue.
For most people the measurement viewed as entertainment or totally irrelevant. It will be interesting to see if minor adjustments continue to be made in the future or the green bar is scrubbed from the toolbar all together. I personally feel a new gauge will be introduced one that delivers a score based on differing search engine optimisation factors SERPS Quality of content Quality and amount of inbound links Age of website Authority status This move would obviously not prevent site owners chasing advertising revenue but it would offer an instant guide to Internet users as to the quality of the sites they are viewing.
The million dollar question is what next for the green bar; stagnation, resurrection, removal or the introduction of a new system. I guess time will tell.
