Improve Website Traffic
If you own an online business it is vitally important to understand how a website needs to constructed and modified so the amount of visitors it receives continually improves. The problem most online businesses face is their progress will always be limited by their website being too static. This article will explain in detail one of the main problems faced by many online entrepreneurs and offer a workable solution that will enable their website to grow.
As an example, if we take an average business website that contains 10 pages, this site will generally target in the region of 5 to 15 keywords. The ultimate aim for this business would be to rank first in Google's organic listings for all keywords. If this can be achieved the site will generate 'X' amount of visitors per year.
The problem is how can this figure ever be improved on? I guess as more people become familiar with the Internet there will be a natural increase, however it will take years to see a meaningful improvement. Apart from working towards the ultimate goal for our targeted keywords and waiting for the next generation of computer users to appear, is there anything else we should be considering? The answer is simply yes, we should be developing our website on a regular basis so more and more keywords are targeted, this is generally achieved by attaching a blog, article section or forum to a website.
The problem with all 3 of these tools is they are all high maintenance and if left unattended can have a negative effect on the business model. I personally like to produce my own articles, when added to my site they are done so in a search engine friendly manner, if we look at one of my recent articles entitled A Well Constructed Website, and then do a Google UK search for the term, A Well Constructed Website, we can see the article is listed number one. So what does all this tell us? If my article on the construction of websites produces 1,000 visitors per year to my site my overall annual target is now 'X' + 1000, if I write 100 articles in 2009, I'm sure you grasp my logic. The visitor trend to my website is set to naturally grow, the better the quality my articles are the more improvement my site will feel.
The difficulty is finding time and motivation to produce good quality articles as well as having a search engine friendly place to drop them. That said, the more difficult a process is, the less people are likely to work at it, leaving the door firmly open for highly motivated online entrepreneurs.
