DIY SEO Part 2
This article will discuss content related issues for your website.
Google views the Internet as an online community, rewarding websites that add value to the community, ignoring the sites that don’t, this includes ecommerce websites. Keeping this in mind how can you develop your website so it is viewed favourably by the major search engines?
Each page of a website needs to contain plenty of good quality well written unique content, bear in mind unique content is not text that is copied from other sources and slightly amended. Finding the right balance between images and text can be difficult, however as a rule of thumb you should aim for a minimum of 500 words on each page of your site.
If you want your website to grow in the medium and long term you have to introduce mechanisms that will enable you to add content on a regular basis, here are some suggestions
News Sections
You can populate these sections by adding sector related articles.
Blogs
Having a blog splintered onto a website is a popular method of adding unique content, bear in mind a blog is a personal diary and therefore may not be suitable for some ecommerce websites.
Forums
Forums are great for adding unique content to a website, however be warned they can be difficult to generate interest. From a negative standpoint an empty forum will give a dead feeling to the whole site.
Testimonials
This is a good idea as it generates content and at the same time validating your business websites that display plenty of testimonials will generally perform better than sites that don’t.
Customer Reviews
A mechanism that is not used as much as it should be, however, not all comments may be positive. Customer reviews are particularly good for online shops.
Directory
A directory can have dual benefit in terms of content, added regularly a reciprocal link can be gained.
As you can see there are many methods that can be incorporated to assist a website with the addition of regular unique content. Remember adding content regularly can be a difficult time consuming task that most people ignore. This is great news for people who are motivated and fully understand what is needed for their venture to succeed.
