Be Smart With Search Engine Optimisation
Over the past 12 months we have witnessed a big shake up in Google’s ranking for online marketing firms. Some big names have tumbled whilst smaller outfits have risen to lofty positions. This is hardly unexpected as many of these once popular marketing firms have lived for too long off the back of crude optimisation processes. Link building from content farms being a casing point.
As search engines continue to evolve more emphasis will be placed on the ‘natural’ element. Remember the Internet was not built to service the worldwide corporate sector, it was introduced as a means of distributing global information. Like Social Media, a nice system that brought together the social element of the web, today hijacked by the business community, in some ways ruined.
Of course people can still generate favourable results by adopting crude methods, however the future is not bright. Over the next few years I predict much pain in the online arena, businesses who have sat at the top of search from unethical practices or being lazy, will, in my opinion be swamped by their peers, when this happens and I’m convinced it will, the road back will be a painful one.
Whether you're striving to get to the top of search engines natural listings or looking to maintain a position it’s vital you operate in a manner that will not bring adverse effects in the future. As many lucrative marketing ventures have found out, when you fall out with Mr G it’s one hell of a long road back.
Good Luck
