Bad Advice

Today on our forum we had an interesting post from an experienced operator. Some people are willing to give free and open advice on forums. I am however growing increasingly concerned about something and would welcome frank and honest debate on the subject. Forums are packed with bad advice, given by faceless people to naive questioners. This is true of many business forums. In amongst this is a sprinkling of good advice produced by competent, established, successful, profit making business owners. However all too often good advice is shouted down by opinionated losers, operating out of a garden shed. There has to be a huge caveat emptor, but more. I question whether semi closed or closed environments are the way forward. This is an interesting debating point, so many people in the forum scene offer a ton of advice, especially on the subject of Internet marketing, yet their websites are low budget platforms, that will never work, if you have the time to search for these sites in search engines it’s wise to go to the end and work backwards. Otherwise you could be there a long time.

Those that know me are well aware I’m a big advocator of validation, I will not take anyone seriously unless they can prove they are a solid performer. In the past I’ve been sucked in by poor service providers plus I’ve worked on many websites where the standard of workmanship has been poor in the extreme. Due to the fact it’s impossible to separate the solid performers from the garden shed amateur it would seem wise to use business forums for advertising and social activity and if you want serious busienss discussion join selective groups that challenge the fresh air sellers.
