Are Google Struggling?
With Google UK in a mess, are we seeing the first signs that Google are really struggling
No doubt the problems arose following the merger between Microsoft and Yahoo, this move forced Google to change their strategy. Previously their system had been to make minor tweaks on a regular basis. Last year we witnessed over 500 changes. This year however they have introduced major changes to their algorithm, modifications they are struggling with.
The main issue for Google will always be its over capacity, imagine how many new pages are added to their engine on a daily basis.
Google have worked round this in the past by
Introducing a duplicate content filter, very ethical but the aim was always to reduce the number of indexed pages
The introduction of the supplementary index, didn't work
Limiting a site to 2 sub page listings, previously we would see tons of eBay adverts for 1 keyword
The sandbox
My own feelings are that eventually Google will divide up its engine into 2 parts, ecommerce and the rest, many leading experts disagree with this theory, however I do not see many alternatives.
In the past few months Bing has been seen to drive more visitors to our websites with very good conversion ratios
